Muro 128 Ophthalmic (Sodium chloride) Information
Muro 128 Ophthalmic, which contains the active ingredient sodium chloride, is a specialized hypertonic ophthalmic medication used for the temporary relief of corneal edema (swelling of the cornea). This medication is available as ophthalmic drops and is recommended for daytime use as it provides quick relief without significantly blurring vision.
The mechanism of action involves osmosis. Because the solution has a higher salt concentration than your eye tissue, it creates an osmotic gradient that draws excess water out of the swollen cornea and into the tears. This reduces corneal thickness, helping restore clearer vision and reducing symptoms such as halos and glare.
Muro 128 Ophthalmic Side Effects
Muro 128 Ophthalmic is generally well-tolerated, but common side effects may occur. The most common side effect of Muro 128 Drops is a temporary stinging or burning sensation immediately after application, which usually lasts for several seconds. Temporary eye redness or irritation may also occur.
More serious side effects can occur and require immediate medical attention. Stop taking the medication and seek help if you experience:
• Eye Pain: Persistent or worsening pain in the eye following application.
• Persistent Redness: Redness or irritation that continues for more than 72 hours.
• Severe Allergic Reactions: Symptoms such as skin rash, itching, or swelling of the face, lips, or throat.
• Vision Changes: Any sudden decrease in clarity or other vision changes.
Muro 128 Ophthalmic Precautions
Do not use Muro 128 Ophthalmic if you have a known allergy to sodium chloride or any of the inactive ingredients in the medication. Before starting treatment, inform your doctor of your complete medical history, especially if you have dry eyes or any other eye condition. Muro 128 Ophthalmic is a supportive treatment and does not cure the underlying cause of the swelling.
Tell your doctor about all medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Muro 128 Ophthalmic has no listed severe or serious interactions with other drugs. However, if you are using multiple eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes between applications to ensure each is absorbed properly. Always apply drops before ointments.
Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Use Muro 128 Ophthalmic in pregnancy only if clearly needed and under a doctor's supervision. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding while using this medication.
Use Muro 128 Ophthalmic exactly as your doctor tells you. Apply 1 or 2 drops every 3 to 4 hours, or as directed by your doctor. Do not touch the container's tip to any surface to avoid contamination. If you use contact lenses, remove them before using Muro 128. Wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting the lenses. Store at room temperature (15–25°C) and do not use if the solution becomes cloudy or changes color. Keep safely out of reach of children.
