NexGard Information

NexGard (Afoxolaner) is used to treat flea infestations in puppies and dogs at least 8 weeks old and weighing at least 4 lbs. The drug is also used to treat tick infestations. Flea infestations can cause symptoms such as excessive scratching, red bumps, hair loss, and flea dirt on the fur. Tick infestations include symptoms such as inflammation, lethargy, appetite loss, and visible ticks attached to the skin. NexGard is also used to prevent infections that may result from killing vector ticks. Isoxazoline insecticides like Afoxolaner interfere with the nervous system of parasites, paralyzing and killing them.
