Orforglipron Information
Orforglipron (Orforglipron) is an experimental medication being investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and weight loss in people with obesity. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition characterized by persistently high blood sugar levels, primarily due to the body's inability to use insulin properly or produce enough of it. This condition, also known as non-insulin-dependent or adult-onset diabetes, affects how the body uses sugar (glucose) for energy. Non-peptide glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists like Orforglipron bind to and activate the GLP-1 receptor. The receptor is involved in several critical metabolic processes, such as stimulating insulin release, suppressing glucagon secretion, slowing gastric emptying, decreasing appetite and increasing satiety.
