Otixal Otic Ear Drops Information

Otixal Otic Ear Drops (Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride/Fluocinolone Acetonide) is used to treat certain bacterial ear infections such as acute otitis externa (infection of the outer ear canal) and acute otitis media with tympanostomy tubes (infection of the middle ear in patients with ear tubes). Bacterial ear infections often occur when fluid buildup is behind the eardrum, leading to pain and inflammation. Fluocinolone antibiotics like Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride work by inhibiting bacteria DNA replication, killing the bacteria. Corticosteroids like Fluocinolone Acetonide work by reducing inflammation.

Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Otixal Otic comes as ear drops. Otixal Otic is for use in the ears only. Do not apply it in your eyes or take it by mouth. Wash your hands with soap and water to prevent introducing bacteria into your ear. Hold the vial for a few minutes to warm the drops. Warming the drops can help prevent dizziness that may result from instilling cold liquid into the ear. Tilt your head to the side so the affected side faces upward. Gently squeeze the vial to instil your dose. Avoid touching the dropper tip to your ear, fingers, or surface to prevent contamination. If treating middle ear infections, gently press the small flap in front of your ear canal to help the drops pass through the eardrum lobe. If treating outer ear infections, pul the outer earlobe upward and backward for adults or downward and backwards for children. This helps the drops flow into the ear canal. Keep your head tilted for about one minute after instilling the medicine to allow it to penetrate the ear. Finish the entire course of treatment, even if your symptoms improve, before you finish all the medication. Stopping too early can lead to the infection returning. Try to keep water out of your ear while using Otixal. Store Otixal Otic Ear Drops at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
