Oxsoralen Information:

Oxsoralen (Generic name: Methoxsalen) is topical prescription medication used for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (a type of eczema), psoriasis, vitiligo, and other skin disorders. It is also used in combination with high-intensity ultraviolet A (UVA) light therapy. Oxsoralen contains the active ingredient Methoxsalen. Methoxsalen belongs to a class of medications called psoralens. Psoralen combines with UVA light is called PUVA therapy, also known as photochemotherapy, which is a physical treatment used to treat Vitiligo and other skin disease. Take Oxsoralen exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Oxsoralen Side Effects:

The most common Oxsoralen side effects include diarrhea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, dryness and redness of the skin. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as depression, nervousness, skin burns, and serious allergic reaction (rash, hives, difficult breathing, swelling of the lips, throat or tongue), please inform your doctor immediately.

Oxsoralen Precautions:

Do NOT take Oxsoralen if you are allergic to Ezogabine or to any of the ingredients in Oxsoralen medication. Before taking Oxsoralen oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as aphasia (speech disorder), cataracts or eye disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney or liver problems, radiation treatment, and skin disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Oxsoralen drug, especially of: anticoagulants, medications that increase the sensitivity to light, other topical skin medications. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. It is advisable to wear the eye, skin, lip protection to sunlight before and after the Oxsoralen treatment.
