Pancreaze Information
Pancreaze (Pancreatic Enzymes (Lipase, Protease, Amylase)) is primarily used to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, a condition often stemming from cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, or pancreatic surgery, where the pancreas fails to produce or secrete enough digestive enzymes. These enzymes are crucial for breaking down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates from food into smaller molecules that the body can absorb. Without sufficient enzymes, individuals with this condition experience malabsorption, leading to symptoms like chronic diarrhea, gas, bloating, abdominal pain, and weight loss due to poor nutrient absorption.
The active ingredient in this medication is pancrelipase, a porcine-derived concentrate containing a specific ratio of digestive enzymes, namely lipase, protease, and amylase. It belongs to the class of medications known as pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy. It works by releasing its enteric-coated microtablets into the duodenum, where the alkaline environment triggers the release of the enzymes to catalyze the digestion of fat, protein, and carbohydrates. Pancreaze effectively bridges the digestive gap by mimicking the natural timing of pancreatic secretion, allowing the body to absorb vital nutrients from food, which likely helps stabilize weight and reduce the chronic malabsorption symptoms associated with the disease.
Pancreaze has generally been shown in clinical studies to be effective and safe for treating conditions associated with pancreatic enzyme insufficiency, with significant improvements in fat and protein absorption compared with placebo.

Pancreaze Precautions
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to pancrelipase, porcine protein (pork), or any other ingredients in Pancreaze. Before using this medication, ensure you inform your doctor about any medical conditions you previously or currently have, including the following:
• Acute pancreatitis;
• Bowel problems;
• Diabetes;
• Difficulty swallowing;
• Gout;
• High blood uric acid;
• Kidney disease
Consult your physician before taking this medication while breastfeeding to assess its benefits and risks. There is some evidence that pancreatic enzymes might interfere with how well your body absorbs oral iron supplements and folic acid. Therefore, inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines, including herbal supplements and over-the-counter medications, that you are taking before starting Pancreaze to prevent potential drug interactions.
Take Pancreaze capsules three times daily, with each meal or snack, or immediately after eating, as directed by your doctor. Swallow the capsules whole. Do not chew, crush, or hold them in your mouth, as this can irritate the mouth and affect the medication's efficacy. If swallowing is difficult, you may open the capsule and sprinkle the beads onto a small amount of acidic food, such as applesauce. You must consume this mixture immediately without chewing or crushing the beads to protect their special coating. Do not take the medication with hot beverages, as high heat destroys the enzymes' effectiveness. Consult your doctor for the appropriate dose and duration of use of this medication for you. Check out the leaflet in the medication pack for more usage details. Store this medication at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.
