Phenergan Information:

Phenergan (Generic name: Promethazine Hydrochloride) is a medication used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting related to certain conditions (e.g., before or after surgery, motion sickness). It is also used to treat sedation, allergy symptoms such as itching, rash, and runny nose. Promethazine HCl is an antihistamine. It works by blocking the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in the body. Take Phenergan exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Phenergan Side Effects:

The most common Phenergan side effects are blurred vision, constipation, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, and vomiting. If you are xperiencing any severe side effects such as fainting, irregular heartbeat, mental/mood changes, restlessness, tremor, trouble urination, vision changes, weakness, and signs of allergic reaction (e.g., itching, hives, rash, swelling, trouble breathing), please inform your doctor immediately.

Phenergan Precautions:

Do not take Phenergan if you are allergic to Promethazine HCI or any of the ingredients in Phenergan medication. Before taking Phenergan oral, tell your doctor if have had any medical conditions such as blood/immune system problems, breathing/lung problems, diabetes, difficult urinating, enlarged prostate, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney or liver disease, seizure, sleep apnea, stomach ulcer, and thyroid problems. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Phenergan drug, especially of: anticholinergics, antidepressants, antihistamines, anti-seizure, anxiety medicines, cancer/chemotherapy drugs, MAO inhibitors, muscle relaxants, narcotic pain relievers, psychiatric medicines, sedatives, and tranquilizers. Caution should be exercised when administering Promethazine Phenergan to pediatric patients two years of age and older.
