Posanol Information

Posanol (Posaconazole) is a prescription medication used to treat and prevent certain serious fungal infections for patients two years of age and older who have weakened immune systems due to other diseases or medications. Posanol belongs to the class of medication called antifungals, which works by killing or stopping the growth of some types of fungi (Candida and Aspergillus) that can cause infections in people.

Posanol Side Effects

Common side effects of Posanol include:

Posanol Precautions

Do not use this medication if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor of any other medications you take including prescription medication, over the counter drugs, vitamins and herbal supplements, to avoid any negative interactions between drugs. Inform your doctor of your previous medical history including if you have:
• Blood problems;
• Galactose or glucose-galactose malabsorption;
• Liver problems

This medication is not suitable for pregnant women as it may harm an unborn child. Women should use adequate contraception while on this medication, and if pregnancy occurs while on this medication, contact your doctor immediately. It is unknown if Posanol passes into breast milk, and this medication may harm your young child, consult your doctor before breast feeding your child.
