Prilosec Information:

Prilosec (Generic name: Omeprazole Magnesium) is a prescription medication used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions caused by excess stomach acid. Omeprazole Magnesium is known as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Prilosec may be used in combination with antibiotics to treat certain types of intestinal ulcers caused by bacterial infection. Take Prilosec delayed-release tablets exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Prilosec Side Effects:

The most common Prilosec side effects are abdominal pain, constipation, cough, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, joint pain, nervousness, urination problems, vision changes, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Prilosec Precautions:

Do NOT take Prilosec if you are allergic to Omeprazole or any other Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) medicine. Before taking Prilosec oral, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as severe liver disease, heart failure, or other stomach problems. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Prilosec drug, especially of: blood thinner, clopidogrel, cyclosporine, HIV or AIDs medicines, iron, tacrolimus, ketoconazole, and etc.
