Proscar Information

Proscar (Generic name: Finasteride) is a prescription medication approved for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as enlarged prostate. BPH is a condition where your prostate gland (which is near your bladder) has become bigger making it more difficult for you to pass urine. Finasteride works by slowly reducing the size of the prostate gland. It may help relieve pain or urination problems and other BPH symptoms. Take Proscar exactly as it was prescribed for you.

The lower-dose Finasteride is used to treat male pattern baldness in men. Propecia 1mg is the most prescribed medicine for the treatment of hair loss.

Proscar causes no or little side effects that did not affect most men. The possible Proscar side effects include breast enlargement and tenderness, decreased libido, ejaculation disorders, testicular pain and allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching, hives, swelling of the lips and face). Tell your doctor about any unusual side effects.

Do NOT take Proscar if you are allergic to Finasteride or any of the ingredients in Proscar medication. Before taking Proscar oral, tell your doctor if you have had medical conditions, especially of: liver disease, prostate cancer, kidney disease or infection. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Proscar drug. Use Proscar for 6 to 12 months for the best effects. Check with your doctor if you experience no improvement in your symptoms. Proscar should NOT be used by children, adolescents and women. Do NOT donate blood until at least 6 months after the end of treatment with Proscar.
