Reclast Information:

Reclast (Generic name: Zoledronic Acid Injection) is an approved injectable prescription medication used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Reclast is also used to treat Paget’s disease of bone in men and women, and increase bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Reclast (Zoledronic Acid) is a bisphosphonate that works by inhibiting the release of calcium from bones and increasing the bone density. Reclast is available as a sterile injection solution for intravenous (IV) use usually less than 15 minutes. Reclast is given as an injection once-a-year for annual treatment of bone fractures. Follow your doctor’s instructions.

Reclast Side Effects:

The most common Reclast side effects are constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset, and reactions at the injection site. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as bone/joint/muscle pain, chest pain, difficult urination, muscle spasm, numbness, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Reclast Precautions:

Do NOT receive Reclast injection if you are allergic to Zoledronic Acid or any of the ingredients in Reclast medication. Do NOT receive Reclast injection if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Before receiving Reclast treatment, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as asthma, cancer, intestine disorder, low calcium level, kidney disease, malabsorption syndrome, thyroid or parathyroid surgery, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. Because they may interact with Reclast drug, especially of: antibiotics, calcium/vitamin D, cancer medicines, diuretic, and NSAIDs.
