Rofact Information:

Rofact (Generic name: Rifampin) is a prescription used to treat and to prevent tuberculosis (TB), an infectious disease that usually infects the lungs and sometimes other parts of the body. It is also used for some other infections. Rofact belongs to a class of medications called antimycobacterials. It works by killing the bacteria that cause infection. Rofact is an antibiotic that treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Take Rofact exactly as it was prescribed for you. Brand Rofact is manufactured by Valeant in Canada. It is available in capsule s, comes in two strengths: 150 mg and 300 mg.

Rofact Side Effects:

The most common Rofact side effects are dizziness, drowsiness, gas, flushing, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach cramps, and tiredness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as blisters, dark urine, easy bruising or bleeding, fever, irregular heartbeat, jaundice, joint pain or swelling, seizures, short of breath, stomach pain, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing, hives, rash, swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Rofact Precautions:

Do not take Rofact if you are allergic to Rifampin or if you have any other allergies. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as diabetes, HIV infection, liver disease (hepatitis), and porphyria. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Rofact drug. Especially: barbiturates, beta-blockers, blood thinners, estrogens, heart medicines, HIV medicines, liver bacterial vaccines, etc. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
