Sporanox Information:

Sporanox (Generic name: Itraconazole) is an oral antifungal medication used to treat certain types of fungal infections, both internally (inside the body) and externally (skin and nails). Itraconazole works by preventing the fungus from growing. Sporanox oral solution is used to treat candidiasis (fungal infection) of the mouth, throat, and gullet (esophagus), and for other fungal infections in people with weakened immunity and fever. Take Sporanox capsules exactly as directed by your doctor.

Sporanox Side Effects:

The most common Sporanox side effects include diarrhea, dizziness, edema, fatigue, high blood pressure, and increased blood triglycerides. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as mood or back or chest pain, congestive heart failure, dehydration, dark urine, hepatitis, hot flushes, jaundice, loss of appetite, sweating, vision problems, and serious allergic reaction (difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling of the lips, throat or tongue), please inform your doctor immediately.

Sporanox Precautions:

Do NOT take Sporanox if you are allergic to Itraconazole or any of the ingredients in Sporanox mediation. Do NOT take Sporanox oral if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Before taking Sporanox, tell your doctor if you have other allergies, take another antifungal drug, or any heart/kidney/liver/lung problems. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Sporanox drug, especially of: anti-blocking (cimetidine), antidiabetic, antihistamines (astemizole, cisapride, terfenadine), birth control pills, blood thinning drugs, cylosporine, digoxin, ergot alkaloids, H2-receptor antagonists, migraine drugs, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), statin drugs and etc. It is important to continue to take Sporanox pills without interruption until the infection is completely cured.
