Toloxin Information:

Toloxin (Generic name: Digoxin) is used to treat congestive heart failure (CHF) and certain types of abnormal heart rhythms. Toloxin can be also used to treat atrial fibrillation, an irregular, erratic heart rhythm that starts in the upper heart chambers (atria). Toloxin contains main ingredient Digoxin; it works by slowing heart contractions and enabling the heart to pump more blood with each beat. Take Toloxin exactly as it was prescribed for you. Brand Toloxin is manufactured by Pendopharm Pharmascience in Canada. It comes in tablet and solution form, including 0.0625 mg and 0.125 mg, 0.25 mg, and 0.05 mg/mL.

Toloxin Side Effects:

The most common Toloxin side effects are diarrhea, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as confusion, irregular heartbeat, loss of vision, mental changes, stomach problems, weakness and serious allergic reaction (e.g., rash, hives, difficult breathing, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue), please inform your doctor immediately.

Toloxin Precautions:

Do not take Toloxin if you are allergic to Digoxin or any of the ingredients in Toloxin medication, or if you have certain abnormal heart rhythms (ventricular fibrillation). Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as low blood levels of magnesium, low blood levels of potassium, or poor kidney function, or if you are at a senior age. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Toloxin drug. Examples include amiodarone, azole antifungals (such as itraconazole), cyclosporine, lapatinib, macrolide antibiotics (such as clarithromycin, erythromycin), propafenone, ranolazine, rifampin, St. John's wort, and others. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
