Vancocin Information:

Vancocin (Generic name: Vancomycin Hydrochloride, Vancomycin HCl) is a prescription medication used to treat certain infections of the gastrointestinal tract. Vancomycin is an antibiotic drug that works by killing the bacteria that are causing the infection. Vancocin comes in capsules and intravenous (IV) injection dosage forms. Vancocin is also used intravenously to kill bacterial that cause infections of the blood, bone, brain, heart, lungs, and skin. Vancocin will not work for viral infections such as common cold and flu. Take Vancocin exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Vancocin Side Effects:

The most common Vancocin side effects are chills, dizziness, nausea, taste changes, vomiting, and weakness. If you experience any severe side effects including fainting, fever, hearing loss, numbness, sore throat, or symptoms of a serious allergic reactions (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Vancocin Precautions:

Do NOT take Vancocin oral if you are allergic to Vancomycin or any of the ingredients in Vancocin medication. Before taking Vancocin drug, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions, especially of: hearing problems, intestinal /stomach disorders, and kidney or liver disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions or over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Vancocin drug, especially of: antibiotics, live bacterial vaccines, NSAIDs, and etc.
