Verquvo Information
Verquvo (Vericiguat) is used with other medications to treat individuals with symptomatic chronic heart failure or those with reduced ejection fraction (less than 45%). It is typically used to reduce the risk of death and hospitalization. Its active ingredient is vericiguat, which belongs to the drug class called soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulators. Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction occurs when the heart muscle becomes too weak and cannot pump blood effectively, leading to symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and fluid buildup that often result in repeated hospital admissions and increased risk of death. In patients with this condition, the nitric oxide–sGC–cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) pathway, which helps blood vessels relax and improves heart function, becomes impaired. Verquvo works by directly stimulating the sGC enzyme in the heart and blood vessels. This enzyme stimulation increases the production of a signaling molecule called cGMP, which relaxes and widens the blood vessels. By making it easier for blood to flow, Verquvo helps improve the heart's ability to pump blood and reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization. Its role is not to cure the disease but to improve outcomes and provide additional benefit when used alongside standard heart failure therapies.

Therefore, inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines, including herbal supplements, that you are taking before using Verquvo to prevent potential drug interactions.
Take Verquvo tablets orally as prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor may start with you on a low dose (2.5 mg) and gradually increase the dose, usually every two weeks, until you reach the target of 10 mg daily, as long as you can tolerate it well. Taking the medication with food improves how your body absorbs it. If you have trouble swallowing the tablet whole, you can crush it and mix it with water right before you take it. Do not use more than the prescribed dose. Check out the leaflet in the medication pack for more usage details. Store this medicine at room temperature and keep it away from children and pets.
