Viokace Information

Viokace (Pancreatic Enzymes (Lipase, Protease, Amylase)) treats adults who cannot digest food normally. The drug is also used with a proton pump inhibitor to treat adults with chronic pancreatitis and pancreatectomy. Chronic pancreatitis is when the pancreas becomes inflamed over a long period. The pancreas is an organ that helps digest food and make hormones. Pancreatectomy is a surgery to remove all or part of the pancreas. Digestive enzymes like LIpase, Protease, and Amylase help replace the digestive enzymes the pancreas can no longer produce. These enzymes help break down food so that the body can absorb nutrients.
