Zimed Information
Zimed (Bimatoprost) is used to reduce eye pressure. Ocular hypertension and glaucoma increase pressure in the eye due to improper fluid drainage. This leads to symptoms like eye pain, blurred vision, headaches, and blind spots. Prostaglandin analogs like Bimatoprost work by increasing the flow of natural fluids out of the eye to lower eye pressure.
Zimed Side Effects
The most common side effects of Zimed may include dry eyes, eye irritation, headache, and itchy eyes. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Darkening of the skin around the eye;
• Longer eyelashes;
• Pink eye;
• Sensitivity to light;
• Swelling or redness of the eyelid
Zimed Precautions
Do not use Zimed if you are allergic to Bimatoprost or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have eye inflammation, kidney disease, liver disease, missing lens, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Zimed and other medications, such as other eye drops. Do not use Zimed if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is not known whether Bimatoprost will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Do not use Zimed while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is unknown if Bimatoprost passes into breast milk or if it may harm a nursing infant. Do not give this drug to children without talking to your doctor.
Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Zimed comes as an eye solution. Instill this medication in your eye. Please do not take it by mouth. Use Zimed once daily in the evening to the affected eye, as prescribed by your doctor. If you are using another eye drop, wait at least 5 minutes between using Zimed and other eye medications. Wash your hands before using the medicine. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Gently pull down the lower eyelid until there is a small pocket. Turn the bottle upside down and squeeze it to release one drop into the eye that needs treatment. Let go of your eyelid and close your eyes for 30 seconds. Wipe off any excess medicine that may run down your cheek. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before applying Zimed. You can put them back after 15 minutes of using the eyedrops. Do not let the bottle tip touch your eye to prevent infections. Put the cap back on and close the bottle immediately after use. Use the medication at the same time every day for maximum benefit. Bimatoprost reduces eye pressure. It does not cure glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Keep using the medicine even if you feel well. Zimed may cause temporary blurred vision. Do not drive or use machinery until your sight is clear again. Store Zimed at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
