Zocor Information:

Zocor (Generic name: Simvastatin) is a cholesterol-lowering medication used to reduce the amount of cholesterol and fats (triglycerides) in the blood. Simvastatin belongs to the class of drugs called statins. It works by reducing blood levels of cholesterol by blocking the action of an enzyme in the liver. All of the statins reduce the amount of bad cholesterol (called LDL cholesterol) and increase the amount of good cholesterol (called HDL cholesterol). All of the statins reduce blood levels of cholesterol and triglycerides that help prevent chest pain (angina), heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes. Zocor is used along with lifestyle changes including diet, exercise, and weight loss program. Take Zocor exactly as it was prescribed for you.
