Zovirax Information:

Zovirax (Generic name: Acyclovir Oral) is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent infections caused by herpes viruses. Illnesses caused by herpes viruses include chickenpox (varicella), cold sores, genital herpes, and shingles (herpes zoster). Zovirax medication does not cure herpes, but reduces the pain and may make the infection to heal faster. Take Zovirax pills exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Zovirax Side Effects:

The most common Zovirax side effects are diarrhea, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset, vomiting, and weakness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as anemia, confusion, jaundice, muscle pain, numbness, seizures, urination problem, vision problem, or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Zovirax Precautions:

Do not take Zovirax if you are allergic to Acyclovir or Valacyclovir or any of the ingredients in Zovirax medication. Before taking Zovirax oral, tell your doctor if have had any medical conditions, especially of: kidney disease and weakened immune system. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Zovirax drug, especially of: cimetidine, mycophenolate mofetil, probenecid, tizanidine, and zidovudine. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
