Avalide Information:

Avalide (Generic name: Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide) is a combination medication used to reduce high blood pressure (hypertension). Avalide may also be used to help prevent diabetic kidney problems. Avalide contains two active ingredients: Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. Irbesartan belongs to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Blockers. It helps to lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic or “water pill”. It helps to control blood pressure by getting rid of excess salt and water. High blood pressure reduction helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Take Avalide tablets as prescribed for you.

Avalide Side Effects:

The most common side effects of Avalide are anxiety, cold symptoms, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, heartburn, insomnia, muscle pain, nausea, sore throat, upset stomach, vomiting, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, confusion, decreased sexual ability, difficult urination, fainting, irregular heartbeat, jaundice, mental/mood changes, or signs of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Avalide Precautions:

Do NOT take Avalide oral if you are allergic to Irbesartan or Hydrochlorothiazide or sulpha drugs or any of the ingredients in Avalide medication. Before taking Avalide, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as asthma or allergies, congestive heart failure, diabetes, gout, high cholesterol or triglyceride levels, high or low levels of potassium, kidney or liver disease, lupus, unable to urinate, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Avalide drug, especially of: cholestyramine/colestipol, diuretics (water pills), hawthorn, lithium, NSAIDs, potassium supplements, warfarin, and other blood pressure medications.
