Delstrigo (Dorvirine/Lamivudine/Tenofovir) is a combination of three medications that are all antiviral medications that prevent Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. Delstrigo is typically used for treatment of HIV infection in adults who have never taken HIV medicines before. Delstrigo is a complete regimen for the treatment of HIV infection and should not be used with other HIV medicines. Doravirine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor, and Lamivudine and Tenofovir are nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. These three drugs in combination work by interfering with an enzyme needed by HIV (which is a reverse transcriptase) in order to make more of the virus. Using Delstrigo greatly reduces HIV’s ability to infect cells and make copies of itself, and also works to improve the function of your immune system. This can reduce the risk of developing complications such as new infections or cancer, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Delstrigo is not a cure for HIV or AIDS. Tell your doctor about any current medications you are taking in order to reduce the risk of interactions. Consult with your doctor if you have ever had Hepatitis B, as it may become active or get worse if you discontinue this medication. Take this medication as directed. Always use an effective barrier method (latex or polyurethane condoms/dental dams) during all sexual activity, and do not share personal items (such as needles/syringes, toothbrushes, and razors) that may have contacted blood or other body fluids. If you experience side effects such as change in urination frequency, increased thirst, new or worsening bone pain, muscle pain or weakness, or pain in your limbs, consult your doctor immediately.
