Diovan Information

Diovan (Generic name: Valsartan) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Diovan is also used to treat chronic heart failure or to reduce the risk of death after a heart attack in patients who cannot use another type of medication called Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Valsartan belongs to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers. It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, causing them to widen.
