Duolube Ointment Information
Duolube Ointment is used to soothe irritated and dry eyes. Dry eye is a common condition when the tears cannot provide adequate lubrication for the eyes. Duolube ointment temporarily relieves burning and irritation and protects the eyes against further irritation. Ocular lubricant ophthalmic, like DUolube ointment, lubricates the eye surface to keep it moist.
Duolube Ointment Side Effects
The most common side effects of Duolube Ointment may include mild burning, redness of eyes, increased sensitivity to light, and watery eyes. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Eye pain;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Vision changes
Duolube Ointment Precautions
Do not use Duolube Ointment if you are allergic to Duolube Ointment or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have an eye infection, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Duolube Ointment and other medications, such as other eye medications. Do not use Duolube Ointment if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is not known whether Duolube Ointment will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Do not use Duolube Ointment while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is unknown if Duolube Ointment passes into breast milk or if it may harm a nursing infant. Do not give this drug to children without talking to your doctor.
Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Duolube Ointment comes as an ointment. Use this medicine in your eyes only. Avoid contact with your mouth or nose. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying the ointment. Wash your hands before applying Duolube. Twist off the top of the tube and tilt your head back. Gently pull down your lower eyelid and squeeze a small amount of the medication into the inside of your eyelid. Blink several times to spread the ointment across your eye. If your eye irritation persists 72 hours after using the medicine, discontinue use and consult your doctor. If you also use another kind of eye medication (such as drops or ointments), wait at least 5 minutes before applying other medications. Use eye drops before eye ointments to allow the eye drops to enter the eye. Duolube ointment may temporarily blur your vision. Avoid driving or hazardous activities until you know how this medicine affects you. Store Duolube Ointment at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
