Zytiga (generic name: Abiraterone Acetate) is a prescription medication for castration-resistant prostate cancer ([CRPC] prostate cancer that has been resistant to medical or surgical treatments to lower testosterone). It is indicated for use of patients who have CRPC, metastatic CRPC, and those who have received chemotherapy with docetaxel. Zytiga is often taken in combination with prednisone, which has been shown to reduce side effects. Zytiga works by lowering the patients' production of androgen. Zytiga blocks androgen production in three places-the testes, the adrenal glands, and in metastatic CRPC, its also blocks androgen production by the tumor itself.

Zytiga Side Effects:
