Trusopt (Dorzolamide Hydrochloride) is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor available as an ophthalmic solution. It is prescribed to reduce elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. These conditions are characterized by increased pressure within the eye, which can damage the optic nerve and lead to irreversible vision loss if not managed. Trusopt works by decreasing the production of aqueous humour, the fluid inside the eye, thereby lowering the eye pressure. It can be used alone or in combination with other eye pressure-lowering medications, such as beta-blockers.
