Vizimpro Information
Vizimpro (Dacomitinib) is a cancer medication used to treat non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to other parts of the body. Vizimpro is used as a first treatment if your tumor has an abnormal EGFR gene. Vizimpro works by blocking the epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR). Epidermal growth factors (EGF) play a large role in tumor growth and replication, so by blocking the receptors, Vizimpro can reduce tumor growth and replication. To make sure Vizimpro is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have frequent diarrhea, or if you have breathing problems not caused by lung cancer. Do not use Vizimpro if you are pregnant. Use effective birth control while using Vizimpro, as the medication could harm the unborn baby. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while using Vizimpro. Do not breast feed while using this medication, and for at least 17 days after stopping Vizimpro, as the medication can pass into breastmilk. If you experience any serious side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
