Bravecto Information

Bravecto (Fluralaner) is used to protect pets against fleas and ticks. It kills existing fleas and prevents new infestations for up to 12 weeks. It is also effective against several tick species, including the black-legged tick, brown dog tick, American dog tick, and Asian longhorned tick. Protection lasts 8 to 12 weeks. Veterinarians may also prescribe Bravecto to treat sarcoptic mange in dogs and cats. Isoxazolines like Fluralaner disrupt the nervous system of fleas and ticks, causing paralysis and death.

Bravecto Side Effects

The most common side effects of Bravecto may include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and reduced appetite. Call your veterinarian right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Signs of neurological issues, such as tremors, loss of coordination, and seizures

Bravecto Precautions

Do not use Bravecto if your pet is allergic to Fluralaner or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start administering this medication, tell your veterinarian about your pet’s medical history, including if it has a history of seizures or nervous system disorders, is underweight, is pregnant or breeding, or is lactating. Tell your veterinarian about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Bravecto and other medications, such as prednisone, phenobarbital, and other isoxazoline products. Studies have shown Bravecto to be safe for use in breeding, pregnant, and nursing female dogs. However, the safety of this medicine in pregnant, breeding, or nursing female cats has not been established. Bravecto passes into milk in minimal amounts, but no adverse effects have been reported in nursing puppies. Inform your veterinarian before administering this medicine to a pregnant, breeding, or lactating pet. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. Bravecto comes as a topical solution. Ensure the application site, typically between the shoulder blades, is dry, clean, and free of cuts or irritation before applying Bravecto. Part the fur between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Apply directly to the skin in one or several spots along the back. Avoid contact with fur as much as possible. The solution must reach the skin. Do not rub in or spread manually. Allow to dry completely before touching or allowing other pets to lick the treated area. Administer this medicine every 12 weeks. Do not bathe or allow swimming 3 days before and after application to maintain product effectiveness. Store Bravecto at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
