Holkira Pak Information

Holkira Pak (Dasabuvir Sodium/Omitasvir/Paritaprevir/Ritonavir) is used to treat hepatitis C in adults with damaged liver that is still functioning properly (compensated liver disease). It is used alone or with another antiviral medication called ribavirin. It is not used for all genotypes of hepatitis C virus as it was developed to target genotype 1 specifically, which is the most common type of hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis C is a potentially serious viral infection that damages the liver over time, leading to scarring (fibrosis), cirrhosis, liver failure, or even hepatocellular carcinoma if not treated. Holkira Pak combines four active ingredients, each belonging to different classes of direct-acting antiviral agents. Dasabuvir sodium is a non-nucleoside NS5B RNA polymerase inhibitor that prevents the virus from copying its RNA. Ombitasvir is an NS5A inhibitor that blocks replication and viral assembly. Paritaprevir is an NS3/4A protease inhibitor that stops the virus from processing essential proteins. Ritonavir, though not active against the hepatitis C virus itself, acts as a pharmacokinetic enhancer by boosting paritaprevir levels in the body for better effect. Holkira Pak basically targets multiple stages of the virus life cycle. It significantly reduces the chance of viral survival and resistance. This process allows the immune system to clear the infection and prevent further liver damage. Clinical studies have shown that this treatment can achieve cure rates of over 90% in many cases.
