Your doctor will recommend assessing your kidney function before starting Onglyza and monitoring it periodically during treatment.

Tell your doctor about all medications you take, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, herbal supplements, and vitamins. Onglyza can interact with other diabetes medications, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. Certain drugs that strongly affect liver enzymes (such as some antifungals or antibiotics) may alter saxagliptin levels, requiring dose adjustments.
