Permax Information:

Permax (Generic name: Pergolide Mesylate) is a prescription medication approved to treat Parkinson’s disease. Permax is used to treat the symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease: stiffness, tremors, spasms, and poor muscle control. Permax is a dopamine agonist and ergot derivative. It works by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain. Permax is used along with Levodopa or Levodopa/ Carbidopa to make it more effective. Take Permax exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Permax Side Effects:

The most common Permax side effects are constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, headache, heart burn, insomnia, runny nose, stomach upset, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, fainting, mental/ mood changes, muscle pain, unusual weakness, vision problems, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Permax Precautions:

Do NOT take Permax oral if you are allergic to Pergolide Mesylate or to any of the ingredients in Permax medication. Before taking Permax, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions, especially: heart disease, liver or kidney disease, low blood pressure, lung problems, mental disorders, sleep disorders, and etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Permax drug, especially of: antihistamines, antipsychotic, anti-seizures, muscle relaxants, sleep medications, other drugs for Parkinson’s.
