What is Pirfenex (Pirfenidone) Used For?

Pirfenex (Pirfenidone) is a pyridone, which works as an anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory agent, and is used in adults to treat a specific lung condition called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which is a chronic disease where the tissues in the lungs become swollen and develop permanent scarring over time, which eventually makes it difficult for the lungs to work properly and prevents the affected individual from breathing deeply.
