Purinethol Information:
Purinethol (Mercaptopurine) is used to treat acute lymphatic leukemia (ALL), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Purinethol is a chemotherapy drug that works by inhibiting certain enzymes to slow or stop the growth of cancer cells. This medication may be used alone or with other chemotherapy drugs.
Purinethol Side Effects:
While using Purinethol, you may experience some side effects including unusual stools, coughing, dark urine, decreased appetite, fever or chills, headache, lower back or side pain, nausea, vomiting, rash or itchy skin, unusual bleeding or bruising, or unusual tiredness or weakness. Talk to your doctor about managing these symptoms. Take this medication as directed. If you experience any serious side effects, seek medical attention immediately. Tell your doctor about any other medications you are currently taking to reduce the risk of interactions.
