Silenor Information:

Silenor (Generic name: Doxepin) is hypnotic (sleep) used to treat sleep problems (insomnia). Doxepin is a tricyclic antidepressant drug; it helps people stay asleep longer and reduce the number of times you awaken during the night. Take Silenor exactly as it was prescribed for you. Brand Silenor is manufactured in Canada. Silenor is available in 3 mg and 6 mg immediate release tablet.

Silenor Side Effects:

The most common Silenor side effects are decreased sex drive, dizziness, drowsiness, dryness, lack of coordinator, nausea, sweating, and weight changes. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as confusion, easy bruising or bleeding, numbness, seizures, tremors, urinating difficulties, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing, hives, rash, swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Silenor Precautions:

Do not take it if you are allergic to Doxepin or any of the ingredients in Silenor medication. Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as depression/mental illness/suicidal thoughts, diabetes, glaucoma, kidney or liver disease, urination problems, etc. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Silenor drug. Especially: cimetidine, St. John’s wort, and tolazamide (Tolinase). Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
