Stendra Information

Stendra (Avanafil) is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. ED means persistent difficulty getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sexual activity. It is usually a combination of physical factors like heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, or side effects from medications, lifestyle factors like smoking, excessive alcohol use, lack of exercise, or poor diet, and psychological factors like stress, anxiety, or depression. Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, such as Avanafil, block the PDE5 enzyme, leading to relaxation of the smooth muscle in the penile blood vessels and improved blood flow. This action allows an erection to occur in response to sexual stimulation.

Stendra Side Effects

The most common side effects of Stendra may include back pain, dizziness, headache, flushing, and nasal congestion. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Chest pain;
• Priapism – erection lasting more than 4 hours (seek immediate medical attention);
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching, or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Sudden hearing loss;
• Sudden vision loss

Stendra Precautions

Do not use Stendra if you are allergic to Avanafil or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have bleeding disorders, eye problems, heart problems, kidney disease, liver disease, penile deformities, or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Stendra and other medications, such as prazosin, sildenafil, ketoconazole, clarithromycin, ritonavir, carbamazepine, etc. Do not use Stendra if you are taking any form of nitrate (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or amyl nitrite), as this combination can cause a severe, life-threatening drop in blood pressure. Avafanil is not for use in women. This drug should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women. This medicine is not for use in children and adolescents.

Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Stendra comes as tablets. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. You can take it with or without food. However, a very heavy, high-fat meal might slightly delay the full effect. Take this medicine as needed before sexual activity, not on a daily schedule. You should take it about 15-30 minutes before sex. Do not take Stendra more than once in 24 hours. Sexual stimulation is required for the drug to work. It won’t cause an automatic erection. Avoid excessive alcohol. Alcohol increases the risk of dizziness or low blood pressure. Stendra may cause mild dizziness or blurred vision. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Store Stendra at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
