Treanda Information:

Treanda (Generic name: Bendamustine Hydrochloride) is an anti-cancer drug used for the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in patients. Treanda is also used for the treatment of indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) after other medications have been tried without successful treatment of this condition. Bendamustine belongs to a class of drugs called alkylating agents; it interferes with the growth and spread in the body.

Treanda should be used as an injection into the vein (intravenous, IV) by a healthcare professional as directed by your doctor. Treanda is usually given for 2 days in a row every 21 to 28 days. You may receive up to 8 treatments total, depending on the condition being treated.

Treanda Side Effects:

The most common Treanda side effects include constipation, cough, diarrhea, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, loss of appetite, rash, nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, and infusion reaction (chills, fever, itching, rash) that may require pre-medications. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as bleeding, blood in urine, bruising, confusion, fever, infections, jaundice, myelosuppression (decrease in while blood cells, platelets, red blood cells), muscle weakness, or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction (itching, rash, swelling, trouble breathing), please inform your doctor immediately.

Treanda Precautions:

Do NOT take Treanda tablets if you are allergic to Bendamustine or any of the ingredients in Treanda mediation. Before taking Treanda, tell your doctor about all medical history especially if you have had any medical problems: blood or bone marrow disorders, fever or signs of infection, kidney or liver disease, metabolic disorder, weak immune system or if you smoke. Tell your doctor if you are taking other prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications, especially: aspirin products and other chemo drugs. Treanda should not be used during pregnancy.
