Verzenio Information
Verzenio (Abemaciclib) is used to treat certain types of breast cancer. Abemaciclib belongs to a class of medications known as kinase inhibitors. It is a medicine you can take if you have a type of breast cancer called HR+/HER2– (hormone receptor positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2–negative) and the cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastasized). This medication works by slowing and stopping the growth of cancer cells. Abemaciclib is also given along with an aromatase inhibitor as initial endocrine-based therapy for the treatment of postmenopausal women, along with fulvestrant in women whose disease has progressed after hormonal therapy or by itself in adults whose disease has progressed after hormone therapy and prior chemotherapy.
Verzenio is not known to be safe and effective in children. Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Verzenio. Talk to your medical health professional if you have a medical history of liver disease, bleeding/clotting problems (such as bleeding from intestinal/stomach ulcers). Abemaciclib can make you more likely to get infections or may worsen any current infections. Avoid contact with people who have infections that may spread to others (such as chickenpox, measles, flu). Taking Verzenio make cause you to be dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Take this medication as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor for any possible side effects and precautions. If you experience any serious side effects, contact your doctor promptly.
Verzenio Availability
Big Mountain Drugs offers the brand name of Verzenio manufactured in Canada by Eli Lilly. The generic of Verzenio is not available at this time. The brand name of Verzenio is available in a dosage of 50mg, 100mg, 150mg and 200mg tablets.
