Effient (Generic name: Prasugrel) is a new anti-platelet medication used to prevent blood clots in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) who are undergoing a procedure after a recent heart attack or stroke, and in patients with heart disorder or blood vessel problems. Prasugre helps keep blood platelets from sticking together to form clots which can block an artery. Effient is an approved drug that provides new treatment for preventing potentially dangerous blood clots from forming and causing a heart attack or stroke during or after an angioplasty procedure. Take Effient exactly as it was prescribed for you.
The most common Effient side effects are back pain, cough, dizziness, headache, nausea, and tiredness. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as bleeding, bloody stools, bruising, chest pain, confusion, fever, jaundice, numbness, pale skin, weakness, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
