Zestril (Lisinopril) Information
Zestril, which contains the active ingredient lisinopril, is a long-acting ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitor. It is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children at least 6 years of age. It is also prescribed to manage heart failure and to improve survival in patients following a heart attack. In some cases, it is used to slow the progression of kidney disease in patients with diabetes and proteinuria. The medication is taken by mouth as a tablet, typically once daily.

By reducing this substance, Zestril relaxes and widens the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more smoothly and making it easier for the heart to pump.
