Procytox (Cyclophosphamide) is a well-known chemotherapy agent that is highly versatile because it can shut down rapidly dividing cells, whether they are cancerous or overactive immune cells. When used for autoimmune diseases, it likely helps by depleting overactive lymphocytes that drive tissue inflammation, thereby preventing permanent organ damage or fibrosis. While highly effective, its systemic impact is significant, often requiring careful monitoring of blood counts and bladder health because of its non-selective DNA-damaging effects. This dual role as both a cytotoxic chemotherapy and a potent immunosuppressant makes it a cornerstone in managing life-threatening or refractory diseases that have failed to respond to milder therapeutic interventions.
