Lynparza (Olaparib) is a cancer medication used to treat advanced ovarian cancer in women with a certain abnormal inherited gene (BRCA) who have responded to platinum chemotherapy. Lynparza is also used to help maintain your body's response to prior chemotherapy for ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or peritoneal cancer when the cancer has come back. Lynparza can also be used to treat HER2-negative breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body before or after prior chemotherapy or hormonal treatment. Lynparza is an inhibitor of poly (ADP-Ribose) polymerase (PARP) enzymes, including PARP1, PARP2, and PARP3. PARP enzymes are involved in normal cell function, and by inhibiting them, it can lead to the damage of DNA and the death of cancerous cells. Lynparza may be used alone or in combination with other chemotherapy medications. Take this medication as directed. Lynparza affects your immune system. You may get infections more easily, even serious or fatal. Inform you doctor immediately if you notice any serious signs of infection. If you experience any serious side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
